
Fabián
Barros
Creative director, designer, digital artist, consultant and professor. Holds a BA in Communication Sciences (UdelaR, Uruguay) and an MA in Digital Arts (UPF, Barcelona). He was Art Director at Punto Ogilvy Uruguay and Ogilvy & Mather Italy, and Executive Creative Director at Grey Worldwide Uruguay.
As an advertising professional, he won the Gran Campana from the Uruguayan Advertisers Chamber and the Grand Effie at Effie Awards Uruguay. He was also awarded at El Ojo de Iberoamérica and FIAP, and achieved Uruguay’s first Lürzer’s Archive cover.
As an artist, he has explored technological arts, audiovisual performance, immersive arts, and artificial intelligence. His work has been exhibited in Spain, Uruguay, South Africa, Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Finland, and South Korea. He founded the Ituzaingó collective and the ZYX Virtual Society startup, focused on the Metaverse. He currently leads the La Reconquista collective.
He is the Academic Coordinator of the BA in Design, Art, and Technology and Chair of Digital Arts and New Technologies at Universidad ORT Uruguay, where he also teaches postgraduate courses.
He has given lectures and consultancies in design, art, and technology worldwide. In 2025, he was invited to the AI Action Summit in Paris. His current research focuses on virtual environments and artificial intelligence.
